Sifu Che

My name is Che and I have been teaching Wing Chun Kung Fu (Ving Tsun Gong Fu) in Essex UK since 2005. I teach Little Dragons 3-5 years old, Kids 5+ years, Adults Classes and Privately.

My Sifu is Sifu Terry Estcourt who was trained by Master Ron Heimberger, I had the great fortune to train with on many occasions through the years before his very sad passing.  Master Ron Heimberger was a direct student and American & European representative of Grandmaster Ip Ching (Yip Ching), Ip Man’s youngest Son. I have also attended seminars in Italy and trained with Sifu Wing Keung Chan (Ip Ching’s Brother in law and direct student) which was hosted by Sifu Antonio Bacino (another direct student of Ip Ching) of the Ving Tsun Ip Ching Italia.

I am also a “Training & Behaviour Advisor” for The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. Part of my role includes teaching staff across the organisation in how to train our dogs using the most up to date scientific based Positive Reinforcement Training methods. This gives me the opportunity to develop my skills as a teacher to both our dog learners and human learners alike. Using Clicker training and PRT for our dogs and also TAGteach for humans to great affect. I find it very rewarding to work with so many different learning types and styles for staff, animal and with our guide dog owners as well with their additional needs. It all has a huge knock on effect to how I run my classes and teach Kung Fu at my school. I have over the many years of teaching had the opportunity to teach Kung Fu to children with Autism & Asperger’s syndrome along with children with L1 Cam syndrome,  physical, visual and mental disabilities.

I’ve been attending Wing Chun Kung Fu for the last 15 years. In this time I have developed confidence aiding me substantially in my history degree; perseverance in achieving both goals and aspirations, lastly my social skills have benefited massively.

In my youth, Wing Chun has taught me valuable lessons such as manners, patience and morals. I remember gratefully a time where Che helped me deal with bullying going on at school which made me feel welcomed and safe in the Wing Chun community.

In recent years, Che has worked personally with me in becoming an assistant instructor, developing my responsibility and leadership skills. I now work alongside Che, manage small groups and have substituted for Che on occasions. I’ve used these skills in my work experience as a teaching assistant, expressing how Wing Chun is applicable in different situations and environments.

Even after my black belt, Che has demonstrated how I can improve my self defence skills, teaching different forms and techniques that flow together to help to create a beautiful martial art.
